Around My Wrist...

And in case you were wondering I didn’t forget mothers day, I got my mum a nice big tin of biscuits and some chocolates.

Sorry I haven’t updated in a while all will be explained.

The past 2 and a half weeks have been a bit stressful to say the least, we were given a deadline for our advertising for the 16th of march, at the time it sounded possible, but nothing goes as planned.

I spent the Tuesday doing a photo of a bottle of wine for my Waitrose project, I was using the large format camera so it would take all day, I set it all up, had everything ready, I just had to take a Polaroid to make sure the light readings were right before loading the film, the problem though was that the Polaroids and the film were kept in the fridge, my tutor had lost his keys the day before which opened the fridge so we had to find another way in.

I got an electric drill, we took out the screws that held the door to the fridge and finally managed to do my Polaroids, I then quickly took my photos on film and then went home because not only was I not feeling too good but I had planned to meet Gemma.

When I got home I met up with Gemma and we went into Birmingham, cant remember what we did there or why we even went, I think I was feeling too ill at the time to remember.

The next day I woke up full of trout flu, I felt awful and just wanted to sta in bed all day but with one week until my deadline I had to get my film developed or at least show up, I dragged myself into college and tried explaining to my tutor but he said I should do it anyway.
First though I had to change the chemicals, I had never done this before but managed it all ok, I started developing my film, with E6 processing you have to go in this order:

Pre-heat
First developer
Wash
Second developer
Wash
Bleach
Wash
Stabiliser

However, due to me not concentrating, feeling ill and talking to other people I didn’t think about what I was doing and did it in this order:

Pre-heat
First developer
Wash
Bleach (realizes that I should have put the second developer in instead)
Wash
Second developer
Wash
Bleach
Wash
Stabiliser

When I got my film out it was just 2 clear pieces of plastic, all my hard work the day before had been done for nothing, my tutor saw it and told me I’d have to do it all again, I was furious so I got my coat on and went home.

That evening we all went for a Chinese at the buffet place by Solihull ice rink to celebrate Gaz‘s birthday, I had to get 2 buses to get there (luckily Ashley had given me her day saver earlier that day), I got there at the same time as Gaz, his mom, his sister and her boyfriend, Carl soon turned up too so we sat at the table we had booked, Adam was having his hair cut and running late so we had to wait for him.

We had our starters, I cant remember what I had, crispy something, all I remember was it was messy to eat. When we were ready to move on to the main course there was still no sign of Adam so we waited for a bit.

In the end Adam turned up with his ears lowered so we headed straight for the main course, I cant remember what I had there too, a bit of everything I think. Afterwards I tried sushi and had this red bean cake (which was yellow), and had some bamboo schnapps which was just odd.

After the meal I had to make my own way home which pissed me off a bit, but as Adam was heading towards his car he did warn me to look out for the ‘ass rapers’, I’d be ok though because Adam was on his way home.

As I was sat at the bus stop I looked at the time, it was 10:30, my bus left Solihull in an hour, plenty of time! A bus came, I got on it and was told they wouldn’t accept my day saver so I had to get off. I looked at the time again, it was 10:55, I had 35 minutes to get to Solihull.
Then the thought went through my mind ‘what if that was the last bus?’, I didn’t have enough for a taxi, I could walk into Solihull but I don’t know if I’d get there in time for my bus.

I started walking, I looked at the time again, it was 11:10, I started running, I really didn’t want to be walking all the way home feeling ill, luckily I saw a bus and flagged it down, I got into Solihull just in time for my bus home. As my bus went through the Maypole there was a bloke lying in the road with man stood next to him and another nearby on a phone, it looked like he may have been run over.

What a crappy day!

I spent the rest of the week taking it easy and somehow managed to get addicted to Spongebob Squarepants and mini cheddars.

By the next week however I was feeling quite a bit better so I decided to get some stuff done, I took some photos towards my advertising project of my cats eating at the dinner table, and then some photos of matches, then Gemma came round and we went to Solihull and had a Burger King, afterwards I walked to Carl’s house and found out that crossing the Solihull bypass with earphones in isn’t a very good idea.

Luckily I survived so the next day I had college, I got my cat photos developed and they didn’t come out as hoped, with the thought of tomorrows deadline hanging over me I went home and got some work done.

Wednesday I woke up with a really bad headache, it was the day I was dreading too and my work was nowhere near complete, I got ready for college and was just about to start out when I suddenly started feeling a lot worse so I decided to go in a bit later, then a bit more later, then even later still until it wasn’t worth me going in…oops.

Friday I went into college for web design knowing that something would be said about my no-show on Wednesday, when I got there I was surprised because not only was it hardly mentioned but all our first year work that didn’t have to be in until June now had to be in next week leaving me with 5 days to catch up on what I’ve missed.

I got home and made a list of what I needed to do, there was a lot more than I originally thought and no matter how hard I work I’d never get it all done in time for Wednesday, after a brief moment of panic I got to work.

I spent all of Saturday doing work and most of Sunday, that weekend Gemma got her new car so we went for a little drive on Sunday, it’s a really nice car plus it was good to get out for a bit too.

On Monday I spent the whole day excited because in the evening the Reading line up would be revealed, they announced Pixies, Iron Maiden and Foo Fighters as headliners, plus Queens Of The Stone Age will also be playing, I’m so excited!

In the evening we all went to the red lion, Jo was back from uni so it was the reunion of the Minehead 6, we played pool in the back room but I decided to do something that was long overdue.

I’d had my Reading wristband on for 7 months now and it was starting to split, and I decided the week before that the night the line-up is announced will be the perfect time to take it off, I’d been through a lot with that wristband, it had been all over the UK, not only Reading and Birmingham but London, Cornwall, Wales, Southampton and Bournemouth, it was a bit reluctant to come off and after a bit of a fight I finally managed to take it off.

Tuesday I got to college worried about my first year work, when I went to explain to my tutor about my situation he told me not to worry as I still have 10 weeks, I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, in the end I decided I should go and ‘study’ luckily that night me, Gemma and Adam had planned to go to the jug of ’books’.

When we got to the jug of ale (it’s a library I swear!) we found that the quiz was just starting, we sat down at a table near a group of people in their 40’s, all of a sudden one of the blokes on this table started talking to me:

“have you got a rizla?”
“no, I haven’t sorry”
“have you got a boyfriend?”
“um…no”
“you have now!”

After being told that this bloke in his 40’s named George wanted my body I sat there stunned for a second, before having to break it to him that he wasn’t my type, he was heartbroken but sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind.

Despite pulling we came joint 3rd in the quiz, we were named the sluts (maybe our name misled George), Helen’s team called the roshambos came 2nd but only because they cheated because they’re losers.

Wednesday morning I got up early to print my work off, unfortunately my printer crashed every time I printed off a page and there was a lot of work to be printed off too. I finally got into college for about 3 in the afternoon, my tutor didn’t even look at my work but I’d broken up so it was a bit more weight off my shoulders. I spent the afternoon cow running with Ashley and Claire, I think I did the best.

In the evening we decided we were going to book this years summer holiday, we had all arranged to go to Carl’s house but there was a change of plan, we were all meeting Gemma and Jo in the plough at 8:30 instead, when I got to Adam’s house at 8 he was watching The Incredibles, we told him the plan but he wouldn’t budge, he watched it right through to the end commenting on how “Technically speaking it isn’t accurate because how can elastigirl be able to stand if she didn’t have a skeleton? Or if she did have a skeleton how can she stretch without dislocating every bone in her body? The only way this is possible is if she was made of an non-Newtonian liquid, this will allow her to be able to stretch when she’s stood still and for her to coagulate when she’s moving”, sometimes Adam reminds me of someone but I’m not sure who.

By the time Adam finished watching the film it was 9:15 so me, Gareth and Carl made our way to the plough, Adam had to turn back for something in a bag, not too sure what it was though, he wouldn’t say.

Thursday was so boring I forgot what happened.

Friday was a brilliant day for me, because finally, after 2 months my Mum’s wardrobe was finally removed from my room, I could move again, I had room to swing a cat or maybe even a small dog.

We went to the plough on Saturday, apparently everyone thought I was drunk after 2 pints, I hate it when people say this because I wasn’t drunk, It puts me off drinking because people will automatically assume I’m drunk…thanks!

Sunday was the pub quiz at the red lion, I knew before we started that we were going to come last because every time we’ve played it this year we’ve come last. After many insults and middle fingers for no apparent reason off the rest of the team we came last. Don’t know why I bothered going out that night.

This week has been so boring, I’m starting to miss college and the weather is awful, I’ve been tidying my room and even managed to complete Final Fantasy VII which I started playing 7 and a half years ago when I was 16.

Oh well I’m just going to have to take up heroin or something now to pass my time.

While you’re here check out Adam’s and Gaz’s new sites, unless you are Adam or Gaz in that case you don’t have to.

I Cant Forget That Tomorrow’s Mother’s Day…

After possibly my most stressful weekend ever last weekend I decided to take Monday as a day of rest, I had a good lie in until about midday, the only problem was I had a contextual studies tutorial booked for 11:30, but nothing was going to get in the way of my sleep so I didn’t care.

I met Gemma after she finished work and we went into Birmingham, we both bought the new Hell Is For Heroes single and got tickets to see them while we were there too, Biffy Clyro will be supporting too which is good.

Tuesday I went to see how the exhibition was going, it was full of strange middle aged men with weird haircuts and even weirder waistcoats, I had a really bad headache so I didn’t want to stick around for too long.

I decided to go again the next day and make full use of the free prints they were doing, I had 2 memory sticks full of images to be printed so I was on a mission.

As Claire was picking me up from Solihull, Gemma rang me asking if I was busy so we picked her up and she came along too, when we got there we had to wait ages for a bus to take us from the car park to the NEC, in the end we realized that we were stood at the bus stop that was closed.

When we walked in I bumped into my mum, she had come to look at my photos but first thing was first…Lunch! But on the way these 2 strange men asked us if we wanted to shave the baby or sniff his marmite, I was scared.

After lunch we had a look around, Gemma very kindly gave me a picture of Shep’s Banjo Band, which is secretly the real reason why I wanted to go there. We then went to the Agfa stand, I got some A3 prints done for my portfolio for free which would have normally cost about £20-30 per print.

My mum wanted her passport photo done but had to wait over an hour for this bloke to stop talking to the people in charge, in the end she gave up.

We went to the Kodak stand to make full use of their free prints, unfortunately I broke the machine so we had to use a different one.

Because it was the last day we had to take our stand down, luckily it was easier to take it down than it was to put up.

Thursday I did bugger all.

Friday I had college, good news is that the colour dark room is up and running at last, bad news is I have my deadline a week on Wednesday.
