I'm Just A Boy With A New Haircut…
So I’m back from Bournemouth now, Didn’t get up to too much while I was there due to getting coursework done, went to Southampton on Friday but it was freezing so I came home.
Saturday I got my hair cut, I wanted to keep it long so I asked for an inch off, I thought something wasn’t right though, first of all the bloke cutting my hair was a bit of a trendy and secondly he kept asking me if I wanted it short for the summer, when he finished he showed me what he did, instead of cutting an inch off he cut 4 inches off, I paid him and went back to the car, I felt like crying, my precious messy smelly smelly hair which took 18 months to grow was now cut short.
Go on - laugh!...oh look theres my sister behind me!
I then went to Sandbanks to take photos for my course, I did some of my dads car which he washed especially for the photos and then I did some panoramas, when I went to do the 2nd lot of photos for my dads car a bird went along and crapped on the windscreen, afterwards we went to the Lighthouse in Poole to see this photography exhibition, it was ok apart from the stuff by Martin Parr.
In the evening we went for a meal but no pubs were serving food, in the end we found one, it was the 7th pub we tried, it was the end to a crappy day, I just wanted to curl up into a ball and hide until my hair grew back.
The next day I got my photos developed they came out really well so that cheered me up a bit, I also bought The Proximity Effect by Nada Surf.
On Monday I came home, I rushed to get everything ready in time but managed to do it ok, there were more smelly people on the coach who sat right behind me, I felt like turning round and telling them to stop smelling.
When the coach came back to Birmingham it started snowing straight away, I was a bit annoyed because the coach went through the Maypole and into Birmingham but wouldn’t stop so I had to get a taxi back from Birmingham in the snow.
When I got home I put my memory stick in the computer to print off my coursework I did in Bournemouth because my deadline was the next day, I noticed a few files were missing, I tried opening one and it said the files were corrupt and the whole thing crashed, I was up until about 3am trying to get them back, in the end the only thing left to do was explain it all to my tutor.
On Tuesday some of us had to do some photography for the make-up students, I chose not to as I found it all a bit stupid, this one model had big rosy red cheeks drawn on like a 5 year old putting on make-up. The good thing about this though was my tutor was too busy to ask for our work.
In the evening we went round Carl’s house, Carl’s dad had been bought this thing for valentines day off his girlfriend, it was 2 cuddly dogs sat on a cushion, if you pressed the corner they started to dance and sing ’I Got You Babe’ by Sonny and Cher, it went on for ages and was very annoying so I couldn’t resist but press the button again after it finished.
Wednesday at college we were getting ready for the exhibition, we’re having our work displayed at Focus at the NEC from Today until Wednesday, so we’ve been working our socks off for that.
We had to go to the other side of Birmingham to collect some frames on Wednesday, it took ages to get there, when we eventually got there I could here the radio playing that bloody Sonny and Cher song, I officially hate that song now!
Spent all of Friday at college sorting out my work for the exhibition, it wasn’t as easy as I thought though, the computer crashed twice while printing my pictures out and I had to print other peoples pictures too.
When it came to mounting and framing them I had everything set out until this bloke walked into the studio telling us to get out as he had to lock up, even though we were told we could stay there as late as we like. I had to carry half the frames home with me because I had to set up the exhibition the next day, but luckily Ben’s mum’s boyfriend gave me and Ben a lift.
When I got home I realized that while leaving the studio in a hurry I’d only picked up one empty frame, all the others had work in and I had 4 frames worth of work, I also didn’t have the guillotine so all my cutting would have to be done using a scalpel and ruler, I eventually got everything mounted at 4:30am and went to bed, I had to be up in 2 and a half hours.
Saturday morning I got to the NEC, I met up with Linda and Jo and Paul her boyfriend, we had to stick everything up by hanging up chains, attaching hooks and hanging the pictures off the hooks, unfortunately I wasn’t given enough hooks to hang up all the pictures and my tutor wasn’t there though but we got them all up ok in the end.
As you’ve been reading this you hopefully would have noticed something new, yes there’s music playing and if you look down a bit there’s video too, I’m going to put a different music video up with each post and then delete the previous so keep checking back or else you’ll miss one. Let me know if it doesn't work.
Genius!
Don’t forget to check out Gaz’s site while your at it too.
